Drug Description:
Omeprazole a substituted benzimidazoles, In a proton pump inhibitor that inhibits gastric Secretion. Chemically is 5-Methoxy-2 (4-Methoxy-4, 5-dimethyl-2-pyridinyl) sulfinyl-1 H benzimidazole.
What is qualitative and quantitative Composition?
Lovanzo (omeprazole U.S.P) is Available for oral administration.
Lovanzo Capsule 20mg: Each capsule contain enteric-coated pellets of omeprazole equivalent to omeprazole U.S.P....20 mg.
Lovanzo Capsule 40mg : Each capsule contain enteric-coated pellets of omeprazole equivalent to omeprazole U.S.P.....40 mg.
What the medicine is used for:
Lovanzo is Indicated for the treatment of:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
- Erosive Reflux Esophagitis
- Gastric and duodenal ulcer
- Helicobacter Pylori Infection
Dosage and administration:
usual adult omeprazole dose for duodenal ulcer: Omeprazole 20 mg orally once a day before a meal. Most patient heal within 4 to 8 weeks.
usual adult omeprazole dose for helicobacter pylori infection: In dual therapy omeprazole 40mg orally once a day in the morning plus clarithromycin 500mg daily 3 time a day on 1 to 14 days.
usual Adult omeprazole dose for gastric ulcer: omeprazole 40 mg daily once a day before meal for 4 to 8 weeks.
usual Adult omeprazole dose for gastroesophageal reflux disease: Omeprazole 20mg orally once a day before a meal for 4 to 8 weeks .
contraindications:
Omeprazole are contraindicated in patient with known, hypersensitivity to substituted benzimidazoles or to any component of the formulation.
Pregnancy lactation: There are no adequate and well-Controlled studies with omeprazole in women.
lactation/nursing mother: Omeprazole with present in human milk. omeprazole concentration were measured in breast milk of a women following oral administration of 20mg. The peak concentration of omeprazole in breast milk was less than 7% of the peak serum concentration. The concentration would correspond to 0.04mg of omeprazole 200ml of milk.
overdosage:
Reports have been received of overdosage with omeprazole in humans. Dosage ranged up to 2400mg ( 120 times the usual recommendation clinical dose). Manifestation were variable but included confusion, drowsiness, blurred vision, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, diaphoresis, flushing, headache, dry mouth and other adverse reaction similar to those seen in normal clinical experience.
